Twelve-year-old Alice (Alexandra Negrao) is the only child of sadistic and extremely powerful businesswoman Eva (Frances Barber). When Alice discovers a video implicating her mother in the torture and murder of her nanny, she turns to the police for help. The authorities are skeptical but the young girl finds a sympathetic ear in the form of female detective Anita (Asia Argento). Terrified of her domineering mother and unable to prove her claims against her, Alice decides to go on the run, heading for Portugal in search of her estranged father.

With her mother's brutal henchmen close on her tail, she hides in a car that turns out to belong to Hugo (Jean-Marc Barr), a professional hitman and mercenary, tormented by his conscience following his accidental killing of an eight-year-old boy during a conflict in Eastern Europe. Seeing an opportunity for redemption, Hugo offers to act as Alice's protector while escorting her to Portugal…
