Featuring Series One and Two of Jimmy McGovern's THE LAKES. Danny Kavanagh (John Simm) is a lovable scouse rogue who cannot give up his addiction to gambling. Forced to leave home and find work in the Lake District, he finds that getting a local girl pregnant is the least of his worries. Tragedy strikes while Danny is in charge of renting out boats on the lake and three girls die in an accident while he is phoning in a bet. Becoming entangled in the rivalries of the angry local community, Danny is blamed but must find out what really happened before the inquest.

We join Danny, who is forced to make the most important decision of his life as he comtemplates suicide on the lake. Meanwhile, John Fisher exacts a terrible punishment on his promiscuous wife for her affairs. The exciting drama continues in episode two, when Father Matthew and married parishoner Bernie Quinlan try to resist their sexual attraction for each other but temptation beckons. Meanwhile, an unexpected visitor arrives before John Fisher can dispose of his wife's body. The characters become entwined together in storylines involving murder, rape, romance, passion and illegitimate pregnancy.
