Fatty (Kent Cheng) is a man looking to take revenge on his wife for fooling around, but accidentally goes to far: while drunk, he hires a professional killer who won't take no for an answer.

His problems begin to spiral, as everything he does after that only makes matters much worse. When he refuses to pay for the hit once it is done, revenge is taken on his family. In order to preserve his own life, Fatty must take on the deranged Vietnam vet (Simon Yam).

INTRUDER features an ingenious storyline, centering around an illegal immigrant (Chien-lien Wu) coming from mainland China to HK, who kidnaps a taxi driver (and his family!) and holds them captive in their own home. Tied up, heavily mistreated and tortured, her victims serve only one purpose: together with her husband, who is about to flee from mainland China, she wants to take over the lives of the imprisoned family. No matter what…!

Whoever sees some parallels to the Stephen King book-turned-movie MISERY thinks in the right direction. But until now there haven’t been too many movies as radical as INTRUDER. Wu Chien Lien’s character proceeds with a mechanical precision and is missing human emotions in a way that keeps the audience paralyzed with terror.

Whether the CAT-III rating was given because of the graphic torture sequences or the total amorality and cruel coldness of the proceedings you can judge now for yourself.
