Well made Sergio Sollima cult Spaghetti Western about Professor Brad Fletcher (Gian Maria Volonte) who needs to head west for health problems and along the way meets up with Solomon 'Beauregard' Bennet (Tomas Milian) and his outlaw gang. Fletcher, a man of study, is mesmerized by the gang's actions and uses his intellect to help Beauregard. Fletcher though begins to use violence to gain his victories and is made the leader of the gang by Beauregard. A fascinating character study that is symbolic of Italy during WW II. Also stars William Berger & Aldo Sambrell.
