Francesco Dellamorte (Rupert Everett) is the watchman and caretaker of the Buffalora cemetery along with his mute assistant Gnaghi. Dellamorte has been noticing that the dead are 'returning' 7 days after they have died. Francesco feels it's his duty to 'return' them to their resting place by placing a bullet through the head. Franscesco longs for the love of his life and finally finds her (Anna Fulci), but he mistakenly kills her after making love to her. He sinks into depression as 'she' returns 2 more times to reinforce Dellamorte's fate. Truly an original and bizarre film, amazing graveyard sets, eerie camera work and excellent special FX by the Sergio Savaletti.
