An English jazz pianist living in Rome witnesses the brutal hatchet murder of a renowned psychic and is quickly drawn into the savage crime. With the help of a tenacious female reporter, the pair track a twisted trail of deranged clues and relentless violence towards a shocking climax that has ripped screams from the throats of audiences for more than 25 years! DEEP RED stars David Hemmings (Blow-Up) and Daria Nicoldi (Phenomena, Tenebre), and is widely considered by both fans and critics alike to be Dario Argento's true masterpiece.

This DVD is not the "Director's Cut" version that Anchor Bay released with the patch up English/Italian audio job and the freeze-framed end credits sequence. That version runs for approx. 126 mins. This Spanish DVD presents DEEP RED in the shorter 100 Min complete English language version. The majority of scenes cut from this version are dialogue scenes between David Hemmings and Dario Nicolodi which develop their relationship. All of the violence and bloodshed are left intact. A plus for this DVD is that the credits sequence is the original "moving" sequence and not the freeze-frame sequence as seen on the AB DVD. The DVD though is nowhere in the same class as Anchor Bay's release in both the video and audio categories. This certainly is not a replacement for the AB DVD, but is a nice compliment to Argento fans who enjoy the shorter version of the film.

Please note this is a PAL dvd so the running time of the DVD is sped up by approx. 4%. The true running time of the source is approx. 104 mins which is the uncut version most commonly associated with the Japanese LD (which could have used the same master as this Spanish DVD).

We also offer the UK release of this version in much improved picture quality. Both versions are uncut.
