While Asterix and Obelix are attempting to make a warrior out of Justforkix, the nephew of their chief, the Vikings are getting restless. Due to their brutality the inhabitants of the surrounding areas of the Vikings have fled.

The Viking chief believes these people have flown away due to the fact that "fear gives them wings" and he insists that someone brings him "A Champion of Fear". The Vikings manage to kidnap Justforkix and convince their chief he can fly. Asterix and Obelix go off in search of Justforkix, but have trouble convincing him to return...
